Ex-Agri chief Panganiban picked as DA undersecretary
Former Agriculture secretary Domingo Panganiban has been appointed an undersecretary of the Department of Agriculture (DA), President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. said Monday.
In a Facebook post, Marcos, who sits as Agriculture chief, said the oath-taking took place on August 12.
"Isang karangalan ang makatrabaho ang ating mga dalubhasa sa pagtugon sa mga pangangailangan ng ating bayan lalo na sa sektor ng agrikultura," Marcos said.
(It is an honor to work with the experts in addressing the needs of those in the agriculture sector.)
Panganiban served as Agriculture secretary during Joseph Estrada and Gloria Macapagal Arroyo's terms.
It is stated in the Department of Agriculture website that Panganiban continued the implementation of the Agriculture and Fisheries Modernization Act (AFMA) as the government’s comprehensive framework and platform for rural development when he assumed office in January 2001.
During Panganiban's second term, a total of 203,000 hectares of idle lands and 313,000 jobs were developed under Goal 1 and 10 Huwarang Palengke (outstanding markets) were identified under Goal 2. — BM, GMA News
