Telecommunication highest paid industry for entry level positions in 2021 —JobStreet


The Philippine telecommunication industry paid the most for entry level positions in 2021, according to a recent report published by online job portal JobStreet.

Data published on JobStreet’s Salary Report 2022 show that for entry level positions, the telecommunications industry paid out the highest median salary of P20,000.

This was followed by the computer and information technology industry with P19,500; communication service with P19,500; consulting with P19,000; and the insurance and electrical/electronics industries both with P17,000.

Rounding up the top 10 are the hospitality and manufacturing industries with P15,500; consumer goods with P15,000; and banking and finance with P14,600.

In terms of specializations, the education or training and healthcare industries both had the highest entry level median salary of 23,877; followed by computer and information technology with P20,700; and services with P20,000.


These were followed by building and construction and sciences with P19,200; admin and human resources with P17,500; manufacturing with P17,000; and accounting or finance with P16,800.

Chief officials

A different ranking was recorded for C-level executives, with the highest median salaries seen in communications service and insurance industries both with P175,000; followed by hospitality and manufacturing both with P172,500; and consumer goods with P168,750.

These were followed by consulting with P167,500; electrical or electronics with P161,000; banking and finance with P148,000; telecommunication with P142,000; computer and information technology with P122,500.

Broken down into specializations, senior managers in the computer and information technology field had the highest median salary with P175,000, followed by services with P172,500; accounting and finance with P145,000; sales and marketing with P140,000; and building and construction with P105,000.

Completing the top 10 are healthcare with P96,985; education and training with P90,000; admin and human resources with P88,750; sciences with P86,742; and P77,500.

The same report indicates that nearly half or 49.7% of job advertisements in the country showed an increase in salary versus 2020, tying with Singapore. It did not indicate the average salary growth.

Some 35.9% of the job advertisements in the country recorded a lower salary versus the prior year, while 14.4% indicated no change.

The latest report covers data gathered from January to September 2021, and was compared with the same period in 2020. It users median salary, and excludes outliers or extreme values and salary below minimum wages.
