Customs surpasses target collection for fourth straight month in April
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) on Monday said it surpassed its target collection for the fourth consecutive month in April with P51.277 billion.
The actual collection for the month is P2.077 billion or 4.2% higher than the P49.2 billion collection target for the month.
The latest figures include additional revenues from the Tax Expenditure Fund (TEF) worth P121 million and P13.65 million from the Post Clearance Audit Group (PCAG).
Preliminary data shows that 11 out of 17 collection districts surpassed their targets -- the Ports of San Fernando, Manila, Iloilo, Tacloban, Surigao, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Aparri, Limay, and the Manila International Container Port.
Year-to-date, the BOC collected P200.459 billion, 9.4% or P17.285 billion higher than the collection target of P183.174 billion.
The BOC is mandated to supervise and control all import and export cargoes, landed or stored in piers, airports, and terminal facilities including container yards and freight stations, for the protection of government revenue. — Jon Viktor D. Cabuenas/RSJ, GMA News
