No reason to increase veggie prices despite frost –Atok mayor

There is no reason to increase the prices of vegetables despite the frost that has affected some crops in Benguet, Atok Mayor Raymundo Sarac said.

According to Jasmin Gabriel-Galban’s “24 Oras” report on Tuesday, rows of Chinese pechay, radishes, and other vegetables were covered in frost in Barangay Paoay.

However, the local government said there was no need to raise prices since only a few areas were affected and there was still enough supply of vegetables.

“Puwede nang mapitas kaya hindi sana nga maapektuhan ‘yung mga prices,” Sarac said.

The Vegetable Trading Post in Benguet also said there was an increasing demand for vegetables.

Also, farmers are still able to meet the demands of consumers, who are mostly from Region 1 and Metro Manila.
