Agriculture damage due to Ulysses now over P2 billion —NDRRMC
The damage in agriculture brought by Typhoon Ulysses has increased to P2.14 billion, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Monday.
The agricultural damage occurred in Regions I, II, III, Calabarzon, V and CAR, the NDRRMC said in an update provided to reporters.
Meanwhile, a total of P482.85 million worth of damage in infrastructure was incurred in Regions I, V and MIMAROPA.
The NDRRMC said the number of fatalities remain at 67 while 21 individuals were wounded and 13 are still missing.
A total of 2,074,301 individuals or 523,871 families have been affected by the strong typhoon that hit several areas on Thursday, the NDRRMC said.
Ulysses left the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Friday morning.
President Rodrigo Duterte visited Cagayan on Sunday to check the situation there.
He attributed to climate change the severe weather disturbances in the country causing massive flooding like what happened in Cagayan and Isabela. —KG, GMA News
