Philippine financial markets closed for Independence Day

Philippine financial markets are closed on Friday, June 12, in observance of the country’s 122nd Independence Day.

Trading on the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) and foreign exchange spot transactions at the Bankers Association of the Philippines are also closed.

On Thursday, the PSEi gained 36.87 points or 0.57% to 6,476.24 at the closing bell.

The Philippine peso, meanwhile, depreciated back to P50:$1 closing at P50.195:$1 due to a lack of guidelines post-June 15 when the general community quarantine (GCQ) is set to lapse.

Trading on both the PSE and foreign exchange market will resume on Monday, June 15. — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA News
