Meralco to extend deadline for bills from March 1 to April 14, 2020
Pangilinan-led Manila Electric Co. (Meralco) on Monday announced a 30-day payment extension for subscribers, in line with the quarantine placed over the National Capital Region (NCR).
In an advisory, Meralco said bills covered by the extension cover those due from March 1 to April 14, 2020.
"Meralco is one with the country in its efforts to contain COVID-19. Stay safe and healthy; stay home," the company said.
For the mean time, Meralco said it subscribers can transact through its mobile application, online, or through authorised payment channels.
PLDT Inc., another Pangilinan-led company, along with its mobile subsidiary Smart Communications Inc., also announced similar measures.
Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. also announced the same measure for its subscribers.
President Rodrigo Duterte last week ordered a community quarantine on Metro Manila, preventing the entry and exit of non-essential travels to and from the National Capital Region from March 15 to April 14.
On Monday, he announced an "enhanced community quarantine" over the entire Luzon island to contain the spread of COVID-19. -NB, GMA News
