Duterte inaugurates Sangley airport

SANGLEY POINT, CAVITE - President Rodrigo Duterte on Saturday led the inauguration of the newly constructed Sangley Airport.

The Sangley Airport Development Project (SADP) was among the key infrastructure initiatives of the Duterte administration’s “Build, Build, Build” program, and was built to help decongest the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

The Sangley Airport was originally targeted to be completed in March 2020, but President Rodrigo Duterte directed the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to expedite its construction and finish the project by November last year.

Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade thus ordered 24/7 construction work on the airport to meet the President’s directive.

Costing P486 million, the Sangley Airport would be utilized for general aviation operations.

The facility would cater to turbo-prop aircraft for initial commercial cargo operations that can run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. — John Ted Cordero/DVM, GMA News
