Ham prices up for Pasko 2019

Prices of ham, a common Noche Buena dish, have increased by P20 to P40 per kilo from previous retail prices in November now that Christmas is just a few days away, according to a report by Anthony Esguerra in Stand For Truth on Thursday.

A renowned store in Quiapo sells different kinds of ham for the following prices per kilo:

• bone-in ham - P1,360
• deboned ham - P1,260
• sweet Chinese sliced ham - P1,360
• cooked pear-shaped ham - P1,040
• scrap ham - P1,300
• ham with separate syrup - P1,500

Consumers may also buy per piece if the per-kilo price is too steep.

The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is monitoring the prices of the noche buena items.
