Tisoy’s damage to agri climbs to P1.93B
The damage left behind to the agriculture sector by Typhoon Tisoy has soared to almost P2 billion, the Department of Agriculture (DA) said Thursday.
According to the DA's Disaster Risk Reduction Management Operations Center in a statement, the damage and losses caused by Tisoy has "has increased from P531.6 million to P1.93 billion."
The damage assessment came from the updated reports from CALABARZON (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, Quezon), Bicol, Central Luzon, MIMAROPA (Mindoroa, Marinduque, Romblon, Palawan), and Western Visayas.

The volume of production loss climbed to 106,525 metric tons from the initially reported 18,455 metric tons.
The typhoon has affected 47,639 hectares of agriculture land and hit 20,830 farmers.
The affected crops were rice, corn, high value crops, livestock and agri-facilities.
"Interventions are ready for distribution to affected farmers and fisherfolk in Bicol Region amounting to P181 million for rice, corn, high value crops, livestock, credit fund, relief goods, fishing paraphernalia, allocation for dry season planting and coconut seedlings," the DA said.
DA-Regional Field Offices III, IV-A, MIMAROPA, V and VI have seed reserves with quantity of 76,060 bags of rice seeds, 14,672 bags of corn seeds and 322 bags of high value crops seeds for distribution to affected farmers
The monitoring and field validation of affected areas are continuously being conducted by concerned DA regional field offices.
