Banknotes supply for holiday season is adequate —BSP

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) on Monday assured the public at large that there is adequate supply of fresh banknotes to meet the growing demand for the holiday season next month.

In a statement, the BSP noted it partially outsources the production of peso bills to meet the demand.

“The BSP continuously invests in and upgrades its capacity for coin and banknote production to further increase its agility in meeting the country’s currency requirements,” the central bank said.

Meanwhile, the BSP’s “Clean Note Policy” to educate the public on the proper handling of banknotes remains ongoing, with the aim of “extending the life span of banknotes, thereby reducing the cost of currency production.” —Julia Mari Ornedo/VDS, GMA News
