Manny Villar tops Forbes' list of richest people in the PHL
Businessman and former senator Manny Villar was the Philippines' richest man, according to Forbes’ 2019 list of the World’s Billionaires, which was published on Tuesday.
Villar, who used to help his mother sell seafood at a public market in Manila, now has a net worth of $5.5 billion. He ranked 317th worldwide.
He chairs the mall operator Starmalls and the home-builder company Vista and Landscapes.
Second in the list was JG Summit founder John Gokongwei Jr. with a $5.1 billion net worth.
Enrique Razon Jr. landed on the third spot with a net worth of $4.8 billion. Razon chairs the International Container Terminal Services and owns the Solaire Casino and Resort.

Meanwhile, Amazon founder and CEO Jeff Bezos is the richest man in the world, according to Forbes.
