Prices of fireworks, firecrackers rise in Bocaue, Bulacan

The prices of fireworks and firecrackers in Bocaue, Bulacan have gone up, a weekend before the New Year revelry, a report by Rida Reyes on "Balitanghali" said Saturday.

According to vendors in Bocaue, the price of lighting and pyrotechnic devices increased by P20 this year due the surge in the price of gun powder, the main ingredient for making fireworks and firecrackers.

The report said that despite the high prices, people were still flocking the popular buying destination for fireworks and firecrackers.

The number of vendors in the so-called firecracker capital have gone down to 40 this year from 80 last year.

Vendors, however, said that they were still enjoying brisk sales as more people have become aware of what firecrackers and fireworks to buy under the Executive Order No. 28.

The Bocaue police is also closely monitoring the area for vendors who will sell banned firecrackers. — Ted Cordero/MDM, GMA News
