DOTr wants Metro Manila subway operational before Duterte steps down, even if just partially
The Department of Transportation (DOTr) wants the proposed Mega Manila Subway operational by 2022, even if just partially.
According to Susan Enriquez's report on "State of the Nation with Jessica Soho", with the groundbreaking of its subway construction is scheduled on set to take place in mid-January next year.
Target po natin na ma-reach 'yung partial operability ng Metro Manila Subway sa 2022 bago po mag-end ang termino ng ating Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte," DOTr Head of Communications Goddes Hope Libiran said in a report by Susan Enriquez on State of the Nation with Jessica Soho on Thursday.
The P300 billion-underground train project will ferry passengers from Mindanao Avenue in Quezon City to Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Parañaque in just 40 minutes.
The subway will run 30 kilometers across 14 stations and will also pass through Mandaluyong, Taguig, Makati, and Pasay.
Moreover, provisions of a few kilometers will be alloted for possible creation of links between the Mega Manila Subway, LRT-1, and another proposed subway system in Makati's business district.
The Mega Manila Subway is expected to be fully operational by 2025.
