Customs seizes two Porsches consigned to Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati
The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized on Thursday two second-hand luxury vehicles at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA), with a combined value of P28 million.
Both cars were consigned to the Don Bosco Technical Institute of Makati Inc. and were actually intercepted on Aug. 5, 2017, the commission said.
The vehicles were supposedly imported for educational and training purposes but without the proper requirements, effectively violating Executive Order 156 which prohibits importing used motor vehicles.
“The seized one unit of used Porsche Boxster S and one unit of used Porsche Panamera 4S have an estimated street value of P10 million and P18 million, respectively,” Customs Commissioner Isidro Lapeña said.
“Only special purpose vehicles can have exemptions, like fire trucks, ambulances, funeral hearses, crane lorries, boom trucks, tanker trucks, reefers, street sweepers, mixers, garbage compactors, and special purpose trucks/vehicles,” he said in a statement
