MRT now running 17 trains —DOTr

The Metro Rail Transit on Tuesday night deployed a 17th train, something that didn't happen since November last year.

According to the Department of Transportation, Train No. 17 ran the rails at 6:50 p.m.

The last time the MRT had 17 trains on the mainline was on November 16, 2017.

The MRT last year started decreasing the number of trains operating following the series of glitches blamed on the rail system's lousy maintenance.

The MRT achieved its initial target 15 running trains with three cars each following its five-day general maintenance over the Holy Week.

It operated 16 trains on Thursday.

Headway or distance of train arriving at each station was estimated at five to six minutes.

Earlier today however, management reported a train removal at 3.42pm which resulted in delay of train arrival at Kamuning station.

“The train was removed 3:42 pm due to reported water leak near the door but it was able to complete its loop. The train, though removed, was immediately replaced with another set," MRT management said in a statement. —NB, GMA News
