DM Consunji bags P2.27-B LRT-2 East extension deal

D.M. Consunji Inc. won the P2.27-billion Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2) East extension contract, the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) said Tuesday.

DOTC awarded the LRT Line 2 East Extension Project Package 1-Construction of Viaduct to DMCI, which offered a bid of P2.27 billion, according to a statement.

The project involves the construction of an elevated guideway or viaduct for the extension of the existing LRT Line 2 system by 3.934 kilometers eastward from the existing Santolan station along Marcos Highway in Pasig City to Masinag in Cainta, Rizal.

LRT-2 links C.M. Recto in Manila to Santolan.

The agency said DMCI will have a period of 18 months to complete the civil works for the elevated guideway.

"Our projects for LRT-2 will make fast, affordable, and convenient transportation accessible to residents of the densely-populated parts of Rizal, such as Antipolo and Cainta,” Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya said. —Kathryn Mae P. Tubadeza/NB, GMA News
