Adamson U grad wins 2014 Maybank business case tilt

A Financial Management graduate from Adamson University grabbed the top spot in the Maybank Go Ahead Challenge Grand Finale in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from August 11-16.

Besting 59 other finalists from 16 different countries, Richard Ocampo, 24, became the first Filipino to hold the title in one of Asia's most rigorous business case competitions.

Ocampo was shortlisted with Bangladeshi and Singaporean students for the title. He and six other Filipino students were flown to Kuala Lumpur to represent Maybank Philippines Inc. in the competition.

During the competition, he was also part of Team Avengers, which was named the 2nd runner up in the Team category.

As the Ultimate Maybank Go Ahead Challenger, Ocampo won $1,000 and a two week internship in Maybank New York. This is on top of the $10,000 his team won.

Meanwhile, Team Star Wars, with John Alfred Mendoza, 20, a 4th year University of the Philippines BS Business Administration and Accountancy student, bagged the top spot in the Team category.

Members of the winning team brought home $40,000 in cash. Both the team champion and the Ultimate Go Ahead Challenger winner will take part in Maybank’s Global Leadership Development Program for a chance to interact with Maybank’s Top 50 most influential leaders.
