Senator Binay calls on gov't to end contractualization among agencies
Senator Nancy Binay on Thursday called on the government to address the issue of contractualization among its agencies.
"Sabi ko nga paulit-ulit sa hearing, ang concern ko 'yung biggest violator ng contractualization is government," she said in an emailed statement.
"Di ba dapat unahin muna ng pamahalaan 'yung pagsunod sa against contractualization," she added.
According to Binay, she heard of an employee working for the government under a job order for 32 years.
"Nung budget hearing, isipin mo may mga empleyado ang DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) under job order," she said.
"32 years na nagtratrabaho tapos walang benefits 'yun. So isipin mo pag nagretire 'yun, wala talaga siyang makukuha kasi nga job order 'yung binigay sa kanya," she added.
For its part, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) last year already ordered an immediate prohibition to the 'endo' or the practice of indefinite contractualization by employers under Department Order (DO) 174.
Malacañang last year cited the DO against ‘endo’ was a fulfillment of President Rodrigo Duterte’s campaign promise. — BAP, GMA News
