BIR announces eREG System online again

The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) has announced that its electronic registration system will be accessible on today.

The BIR said that it has resolved the technical issues encountered in the eREG System. It said the system will be online starting 8 a.m.

"All eREG users can resume online TIN application following the prescribed procedures in applying for TIN," the BIR said in its memorandum issued last August 7.

The main module of the eREG System is the eTIN, where users can apply for Taxpayers Identification Number (TIN).

The eTIN module caters to individual taxpayers including self-employed individuals (single proprietors and professionals), mixed income earners and employees.

For self-employed individuals, each user would only need a valid email address where the BIR's system will send their TIN and instructions on taxpayer registration.

The applicants will need to pay P500 in BIR-authorized banks or through G-Cash and eFPS

Late last month, the BIR advised taxpayers that it will no longer accept income tax returns filed through email starting August 1.

The BIR said it is putting the system offline because it received "numerous invalid format of BIR Tax Returns, including emails with no attachments." —ALG, GMA News
