DENR's MGB deputizes 8 NBI agents for campaign vs illegal mining


The Mines and Geosciences Bureau of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources deputized eight agents of the National Bureau of Investigation to give “teeth to the implementation of cease and desist orders (CDOs).”
 
In a post on its website, the MGB said they needed to deputize the NBI agents because, "(d)espite the cease and Desist Orders (CDOs) that have been issued by the Courts in response to the complaints filed by the MGB Regional Directos concerned, perpetrators are still undertaking clandestine operations in defiance of the stoppage order."
 
In particular, the MGB said the NBI agents would be helpful in intercepting the illegal transport of minerals from illegal mining operations and in the filing of the appropriate charges.  — ELR, GMA News
