Globe partners with Gogolook to combat online scams, threats

Globe Telecom Inc. has partnered with Gogolook, the global TrustTech company behind the anti-scam app Whoscall, to offer customers free access to Whoscall Premium Basic. 

According to Globe and Gogolook, this initiative will equip its customers with powerful tools to safeguard their digital security amid the increasing number of online threats.

"At Globe, protecting our customers from online threats is a top priority. Our partnership with Gogolook empowers our users with an added layer of security, equipping them with the tools they need to identify and block potential scams. As online fraud continues to evolve, we remain steadfast in our commitment to safeguarding our customers’ lives and ensuring they can connect safely and confidently,” Eric Tanbauco, OIC for Globe’s Consumer Mobile Business, said in a press release on Monday.

Developed by Gogolook, the Whoscall app offers crucial security features designed to protect users from online threats. 

Further, its Caller ID function identifies incoming calls, effectively differentiating between safe contacts and those that are potential scammers. 

Meanwhile, the Web Checker feature scans links to ensure their safety, flagging any malicious URLs. The ID Security monitors the dark web for leaked personal information, which will later alert users to potential breaches. 

These features are crucial as online threats have been prevalent across various digital platforms.

Gogolook Philippines country head Mel Migriño stressed the critical need for robust online protection amid increasing threats.

"In a constantly connected society, staying safe online has never been more important,” Migriño said.  

"Whoscall is a global digital anti-scam application that helps users stay safe online while practicing digital hygiene," she added.

Globe and Gogolook have streamlined the activation process to ensure seamless access for Globe customers who want to avail the app.

Users will receive an SMS notification from Globe with detailed instructions. All active Globe Platinum, Postpaid, and Prepaid customers may redeem Premium Basic access to Whoscall through Globe Rewards or Globe Rewards+ via the GlobeOne app. — Anna Felicia Bajo/BM, GMA Integrated News
