BDO, Shizuoka Bank boost alliance

Sy-led banking giant BDO Unibank Inc. and Japan’s Shizuoka Bank Ltd. are strengthening their business alliance to expand Japanese firms’ market access in the Philippines.
In a news release on Thursday, BDO said it signed a comprehensive memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Shizuoka Bank to further boost the Shizuoka Prefecture-based lender’s client base in the country through additional investments and business matching initiatives.
BDO said its partnership with Shizuoka Bank has been going on since 2016, providing strategic financial solutions and helping Japanese customers succeed.
“The expanded partnership with Shizuoka Bank enables companies to connect with the right partners, streamline financial transactions, and navigate regulatory landscapes,” the Sy-led lender said.
The bank added that its partnership with Shizuoka Bank will also provide needed support to overseas Filipino workers such as technical intern trainees, specified skilled workers, and professionals employed in Japan.
Shizuoka Bank is a regional bank based in Shizuoka Prefecture which operates 177 branches and 26 sub-branches. It also has branches in Japan’s three major economic hubs —Tokyo, Osaka and Nagoya.
BDO said its partnership with Shizuoka Bank demonstrates its “commitment to accelerate trade and investments and strengthen vital industries contributing to the nation’s economic development.”
