Tesla launches New Model Y in the Philippines

Tesla has unveiled its new and improved all-electric Model Y for the Philippine market.

At the launch event at EDSA Shangri-La Plaza in Mandaluyong City on Wednesday, Tesla Philippines regional director Isabelle Fan said that the Model Y has been the company's best-selling unit in recent years.

“Model Y [is] the best-selling SUV in the world. Behind Model 3, those two models are Tesla vehicles on the road. They are robots on the road,” she said.

The New Model Y can travel up to 551 kilometers and accelerate from 0-100 kilometers per hour in 4.3 seconds for the long-range model, while the standard range battery can travel 466 kilometers and accelerate from 0-100 kilometers in 5.9 seconds. The vehicle can run at 201 kilometers per hour at top speed, and takes 15 minutes to charge.

The new vehicle boasts an optimized axle lift balance, improved absorption ability, and noise reduction.

In comparison to the old Model Y, this new version has a front lightbar, a new air inlet, a rear diffuser, a new bumper camera, updated wheels and tires, distinctive lighting, and expansive car storage.

The cabin of the car features acoustic double-layered glass, engineered audio, wrap-around interior lighting, and ventilated seats.

The new model is priced at P2.369 million for the rear-wheel drive and P2.689 million for the long-range all-wheel drive.

Meanwhile, a limited-time offer of a free wall connector for every purchase of a new Tesla is currently available. At the same event, Tesla also announced that it is establishing a new supercharging station at the same mall, its second in the country after the station at Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City.

The New Model Y may be purchased through the Tesla official website. It is exhibited for viewing at the Shangri-La Plaza’s East Wing and Main Wing for the next two weeks. — BM, GMA Integrated News
