P1.6-B water treatment plant in Muntinlupa nears completion —Maynilad
West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. on Thursday said its over a billion pesos new water treatment facility in Muntinlupa City is now nearing completion.
In a statement, Maynilad said it is now working on the testing and commissioning of its P1.6-billion water reclamation facility (WRF) and sewer conveyance system in Barangay Cupang, which would bring the facility into full operation by year-end.
The water distributor said its Cupang Water Reclamation Facility has a design capacity to treat up to 46 million liters of wastewater per day.
Maynilad said the new water treatment plants utilizes Conventional Activated Sludge technology to effectively remove pollutants from wastewater.
The company added that the facility is seen to serve approximately 33,000 customers across Barangays Sucat, Buli, Cupang, and Bayanan in Muntinlupa once fully operational, ensuring that wastewater generated by the communities is properly treated before being discharged.
“Wastewater management is essential to safeguarding both public health and the environment, which is why we continue to invest in projects that ensure the proper treatment and disposal of wastewater,” said Maynilad president and CEO Ramoncito Fernandez.
“The construction of this new WRF in Cupang, Muntinlupa, is part of our long-term strategy to expand sewerage services across the entire West Zone,” said Fernandez.
Maynilad is the concessionaire of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System (MWSS) for the west zone of the Greater Manila Area, which is composed of the cities of Manila (certain portions), Quezon City (certain portions), Makati (west of South Super Highway), Caloocan, Pasay, Parañaque, Las Piñas, Muntinlupa, Valenzuela, Navotas and Malabon all in Metro Manila; the cities of Cavite, Bacoor and Imus, and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta and Rosario, all in Cavite province. —Ted Cordero/KBK, GMA Integrated News
