PLDT’s Jan.-Sept. 2024 telco core income at P26.6 billion, up 2%
Pangilinan-led integrated telecommunications giant PLDT Inc. continued the growth trajectory of its core telco business in the first nine months of 2024.
At a press briefing in Makati City on Tuesday, PLDT chief finance officer Danny Yu said PLDT booked a telco core income of P26.6 billion in the January to September 2024 period, up 2% year-on-year.
This was on the back of a 2% growth in consolidated revenues to P144.9 billion, up 2% year-on-year.
PLDT’s individual wireless segment, meanwhile, saw revenues of P62.1 billion during the period, up 2% from a year earlier.
Mobile date revenues, which accounted for 89% of the individual wireless sales, posted a 5% growth to P55.2 billion.
Number of active data users stood at 41.2 million with average data usage per subscriber at 11.6 gigabytes driven by Smart’s mobile data offerings.
PLDT’s home business reported revenues of P41.7 billion in the first nine months of the year, up 6% year-on-year with the fiber-only segment accounting for 92% of the total.
"We must continue to intensify our focus on delivering exceptional customer service, as we strive to transform our networks into platforms for innovation, enabling new industries, new products, new services and new ways of life,” said PLDT chairman Manuel Pangilinan.
The PLDT chairman expressed confidence that the company will hit its telco core income goal for the entire 2024.
“With nine months of 2024 behind us, we reaffirm our guidance for telco core income at north of P35 billion,” Pangilinan said. — BM, GMA Integrated News
