Globe prepares network for ‘Marce’ impact
Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. on Monday said it is now preparing for the possible commercial power outages to be brought about by Tropical Storm Marce (international name: Yinxing), which the state weather bureau said could reach severe tropical storm category.
In an advisory, Globe said its network facilities on Marce’s path are being prepared with generator sets and batteries in anticipation of possible commercial power outages, and it has prepositioned technical and support crews and supplies and emergency equipment to ensure quick response.
“We would like to assure our customers that we are making all the necessary preparations in our network facilities as we anticipate the effects of yet another storm,” Globe chief sustainability and corporate communications officer Yolanda Crisanto said.
“Our country has faced consecutive storms in recent weeks and many communities are still reeling from the impact of these successive weather events,” she added.
In its 5 p.m. bulletin on Monday, PAGASA said Marce slightly intensified and its trough is expected to bring rains over the Extreme Northern Luzon and the eastern section of Luzon starting Monday or Tuesday.
“Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 may be hoisted over portions of Cagayan by tomorrow. The highest Wind Signal that may be hoisted during the occurrence of Marce is Wind Signal No. 4,” PAGASA said.
Globe has since urged communities that may be hit by Marce to store food, water, and medicine, and to monitor weather updates from legitimate sources.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
