Maynilad spends P695 million for Parañaque sewerage network expansion
West zone concessionaire Maynilad Water Services Inc. on Monday announced a P695-million investment for its new sewer lines in Parañaque, which the company aims to complete by the third quarter of 2025.
The expansion of the sewer lines involves pipe-laying works done through small insertion points, with construction restricted to nighttime hours between 10 p.m. and 4 a.m. in a bid to minimize disturbances to the traffic flow.
The project started in 2021, covers portions of NIA Avenue, the Radial Road, and Sucat Avenue, which collect wastewater from over 35,000 residents of Barangays La Huerta and San Dionisio.
Maynilad said the wastewater will then be collected and sent to Maynilad’s Parañaque Water Reclamation Facility for proper treatment, before being discharged into the Kayboboy River in compliance with environmental standards.
“Sewerage projects are highly complex and take time, as new sewer lines must be laid deeper than water pipelines — sometimes as deep as 14 meters below ground. This requires precise engineering and careful excavation,” Maynilad Wastewater Management head Engr. Zmel Grabillo said.
Maynilad said it is also continuing its network expansion in Bacoor, Caloocan, Las Piñas, Manila, Muntinlupa, Quezon City, and Valenzuela, as it has earmarked P19 billion for the installation of 121 kilometers of new sewer lines from 2023 to 2027.
Maynilad currently serves customers in the west zone, which covers the cities of Caloocan, Las Piñas, Makati, Malabon Manila, Muntinlupa, Navotas, Parañaque, Pasay, Quezon, Valenzuela. It also services certain areas in Cavite such as the cities of Bacoor, Cavite, and Imus; and the towns of Kawit, Noveleta, and Rosario.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
