New NAIA urges Undas travelers to arrive at airport early

NAIA's new operator on Monday advised passengers to head to the airport earlier to give time for security and check-in procedures, in line with preparations for the anticipated influx of passengers during the Undas long weekend.

The New NAIA Infrastructure Corporation (NNIC) said it is now working with government agencies such as the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA), as its regulator, to ensure that there is sufficient manpower and resources available to cater to the expected increase in passenger traffic.

“NNIC advises passengers to arrive early for their scheduled flights to allow enough time for security, check-in, and immigration procedures,” it said in an advisory.

“Staying updated on travel guidelines and cooperating with airport staff will also help ensure a hassle-free experience during the busy season,” it added.

Malacañang earlier declared November 1, All Saints’ Day, and November 2, All Souls’ Day, as special non-working days. It also suspended work in government offices and classes at levels from noon onwards on October 31, 2024.

The NNIC said it is also working with airlines to encourage early check-in counter openings, allowing more time for passengers to check-in and cut down on queuing times during peak hours, and with transportation service providers to increase vehicle availability.

The NNIC said a comprehensive review on ground handler and airline equipment deployment is likewise being conducted to ensure that serviceable equipment is available.

The airport operator said it will also add more parking spaces at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) Terminal 3, in a bid to help ease traffic congestion around the airport.
