GreenHeat targets P2B worth of solar projects in next 18 months

GreenHeat targets P2B worth of solar projects in next 18 months

Solar power solutions and installation provider GreenHeat Corporation is targeting to increase its installed solar rooftop capacity by over twofold in the medium term, banking on continuing demand from eco-conscious enterprises and households in the country.

At a press briefing in Taguig City on Tuesday, GreenHeat managing director Glenn Tong said the company and its residential arm GreenDot aim to secure “P2 billion worth of projects in the next 18 months.”

Tong said the solar solutions provider is now in talks with “several different clients,” mostly large enterprises engaged in data centers, floating solar power generation, and retail.

“The target for the next 18 months is an additional 100 megawatts [installed capacity],” he said.

“Right now, we have 40 to 50 MW of installed capacity,” he added.

Tong said that since the COVID-19 pandemic, the demand for solar photovoltaic rooftop installations has surged, driven by a need for energy independence, cost savings, and growing environmental concerns.

Since 2020, the peak of the pandemic lockdowns, GreenHeat has installed over 45 systems for a total of 17,791.92 kilowatts for businesses such as SM, Landers Superstores, and Wilcon Depot, while GreenDot has completed another 45 installations for a total of 17,791.92 kW for residences across the country.

"We are committed to addressing this demand for clean energy," Tong said.

"It has always been our mandate to contribute to the global drive towards Net Zero carbon emissions. We now have new services and technologies that make solar PV systems more efficient, allowing owners to enjoy the benefits of renewable energy for a much longer period,” he added. — VBL, GMA Integrated News
