De Claro named as SSS officer-in-charge
The Social Security System (SSS) on Saturday announced the appointment of an officer-in-charge who will take over the helm of the pension fund after the resignation of Rolando Ledesma Macasaet as its president.
In a statement, SSS said the Social Security Commission (SSC) — the pension fund’s policy-making body— appointed Commissioner Robert Joseph De Claro as its new officer-in-charge effective October 11, 2024.
“De Claro, who has served on the SSC since January 11, 2023, representing the Employers' Group, brings a strong background to the role,” SSS said.
“As a Commissioner, he chaired the IT and Collection and Contribution Committee and participated in key committees covering audit, risk, investment, and governance,” it added.
Macasaet, meanwhile, stepped down as president and CEO of SSS after he accepted the nomination of SSS-GSIS Pensyonado party-list which is vying for a House seat in the May 2025 elections.

In his resignation letter, Macasaet had informed President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. that he would be filing his Certificate of Nomination and Acceptance (CONA) as SSS-GSIS Pensyonado’s nominee on October 6.
The Supreme Court has issued a temporary restraining order against the Commission on Elections' rule that allows public appointive officials to continue serving after being nominated as a party-list representative. —Ted Cordero/KG, GMA Integrated News
