Alfamart opens 2,000th store

SM Group has expanded the footprint of Alfamart in the Philippines to 2,000 stores

Sy family’s conglomerate SM Investment Corp. or SM Group has expanded the footprint of Alfamart in the Philippines to 2,000 stores, 10 years after it introduced the super minimart chain brand in the country.

In a news release on Wednesday, SM Group announced the opening of Alfamart’s 2,000th store in a residential village in Sta. Rosa, Laguna.

Alfamart, which inaugurated its first store in June 2014, is a venture between SM Group and Indonesia's PT Sumber Alfaria Trijaya Tbk.

“Alfamart sees immense value in serving underserved communities. Our 2000th store marks a pivotal milestone,” said Harvey Ong, chief operating officer of Alfamart.

Ong, likewise, reaffirmed Alfamart’s commitment to residential locations, aiming to serve as an extension of every family’s pantry and kitchen.

"We are dedicated to providing a variety of merchandise, including fresh produce and frozen goods, precisely tailored to meet local needs," he said. --VAL, GMA Integrated News
