inDrive eyes to onboard 16,000 drivers by end of 2024

Ride-hailing firm inDrive is bullish about its growth prospects in the Philippines after it saw a dramatic increase in its driver-partners in just three months after it resumed operations in the country.

At a press conference in Quezon City on Tuesday, inDrive Marketing Director for Asia-Pacific Natalia Makarenko said the company’s current fleet has grown to over 8,000 drivers-partners, from several hundreds when the ride-hailing firm relaunched in June —after a five-month suspension ordered by the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) over violations of the agency’s fare matrix.

“We understand that it’s not only business for us but it also provides opportunities for income for drivers who want to earn a decent income. We are not just doubling, but we are growing with the 90-percent growth rate,” Makarenko said.

Three months after its resumption, inDrive saw a 75% increase in rides, 86% rise in active users, and 96% growth in drivers.

With this growth, inDrive Regional Driver Acquisition and Activation Team lead Mohamed Khalil said the company is aiming to onboard 16,000 drivers by year-end.

“We have plans to grow [to] 16,000 [drivers]… it will be something that we will like to achieve,” Khalil said.

To achieve its growth goal, inDrive is targeting to expand its presence to key areas such as Cebu, Davao, and Pampanga.

During the event, inDrive launched the "Ka-gulong, Kita Tayo!" campaign —a joint effort with transport group Laban TNVS.

“We have always believed in the power of mobility to transform lives.… We aim to achieve this by continuously driving change through innovative mobility solutions and community-driven initiatives that resonate with the needs of the people we serve,” Makarenko said.

inDrive’s ride-hailing services are currently available in six cities, namely Metro Manila, Bacolod, Baguio, Iloilo, Butuan, and Cagayan de Oro.

The company is implementing a 0% commission rate in the six months of its operations, after which it will only charge a 10% commission rate from its driver-partners. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
