Emperador sets P6.5-B capex for 2024

Global brandy conglomerate Emperador Inc. is set to spend P6.5 billion this year, with bulk going into its whisky business as the expansion of its Dalmore distillery is set to be completed in the second half.

The latest capex allocation is lower than the P7 billion the company earmarked in 2023, which was aimed at expanding operations and upgrading machinery and facilities.

“The expansion will double the capacity of the current Dalmore distillery. The company has also started expanding the maturation complex in Invergordon, building more warehouses for whisky aging to house the additional liquid to be produced by the larger Dalmore distillery,” it said in a statement.

The capex will also partly finance Whyte and Mackay's sustainability goal of being carbon neutral by 2030, with projects including an anaerobic digestion bioenergy center and a biomass boiler system.

Part of the capex will be spent for upgrades in machinery and equipment of the brandy business in a bid to make operations more efficient.

Emperador’s brands include Emperador Brandy, Emperador Light, Andy Player Whisky, The BaR, Smirnoff Mule, The Dalmore Single Highland Malt Scotch Whisky, Whyte & Mackay Blended Scotch Whisky, Terry Centenario, Tres Cepas, and Harveys.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
