Upson targets to complete new Manila warehouse by end-2023
Information technology retailer Upson International Corp. on Tuesday said it expects to complete its 7,047 square meter warehouse close to the Manila Port by the end of the year, as it plans to expand to other locations across the country.
In a regulatory filing, Upson said its new six-story warehouse was 83% complete as of August 15, after construction started in September 2021. Four floors will be for warehouse use, while the remaining two will be for loading and unloading.
“The strategic location of this warehouse gives us proximity advantages. Being near our customers and suppliers drives competitiveness and sustainability by enabling delivery speed, optimizing costs, and reducing road transport and its associated emissions,” CEO Arlene Sy said.
“Its short distance to our other warehouse and headquarters can also boost efficiency and productivity in operations,” she added.
Upson’s brands include its flagship brand Octagon Computer Superstore, specialty store Micro Valley, information technology accessories and peripherals store Gadget King, and communication and connectivity device provider Octagon Mobile.
The company plans to roll out 450 branches by 2027, after it ended 2022 with 207 branches and six warehouses in the country including three in Manila, and one each in Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao City.
It earlier shared plans to put up new warehouses and distribution facilities in Bacolod, Cabanatuan, Dagupan, General Santos, Iloilo, Manila, Naga, Palawan, and Zamboanga. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
