Marcos: Toyota an important partner in PH development

STA. ROSA, Laguna — President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. acknowledged on Tuesday the role of Toyota Motors Philippines Corporation (TMP) in the Philippine development.

Marcos graced the 35th anniversary of TMP at the Toyota Special Economic Zone here.

"We have to recognize the contributions that Toyota has brought to the Philippines. We have to recognize the help that it has given, that this plant such as this has given us and our people," Marcos said.

"We are always seeing Toyota as being an important partner in everything, in our development in the Philippines, and now especially in these difficult times, these are the partnerships that I am certain would be of benefit not only to the Philippines, but even for our partners in Japan," he added.

Marcos said the Philippine government should "look to new beginnings" when it comes to partnership with Toyota.

The company donated 35 Toyota vehicles to the Office of the President as an expression of gratitude for the enduring partnership and commitment to revitalizing the local automotive manufacturing industry.

Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) chairperson Akio Toyoda handed over the keys of the Toyota vehicles to the President.

These include:

  • Ten units of Hiace Ambulance 3.0 M/T - ZD -24
  • Five units of Lite Ace 1.5L Pickup MT - VB -3
  • Five units of Innova 2.8J M/T-DM-6
  • Five units of Vios 1.3 XLE CVT - EK - 29
  • Three units of Yaris Cross 1.5 S HEV CVT 2T PC - BC - 2
  • Five Lite Ace 1.5L Cargo MT - V2 -5
  • Two units of Coaster, customized for the Lab For All program of the Office of First Lady Louise Araneta-Marcos.
