Marcos meets Unilever, Ocea, Acciona execs in Brussels
President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Wednesday met executives of European firms to discuss investment opportunities in the Philippines.
According to Radio TV Malacanang, Marcos met with representatives of multinational consumer goods company Unilever, French shipbuilder Ocea, and Spanish infrastructure and renewable energy firm Acciona.
His meetings on Wednesday pushed through after Marcos missed his coffee meeting with members of the Philippine media due to a cold.
Marcos in his closing remarks at the ASEAN-EU Business Summit on Tuesday night apologized for his voice, citing the cold weather in Brussels.
He is in Belgium to attend the Commemorative Summit between the Association of Southeast Asian Nations and the European Union.
Unilever reportedly intends to put up a “state-of-the-art” manufacturing facility for personal care products in Cavite.
It is expected to generate around P4.7 billion in investment, adding that it will provide employment opportunities to around 130 Filipinos.
Ocea plans to develop a shipyard in the Philippines, with an investment of P1.5 billion that is expected to create 500 to 600 direct and indirect jobs.
The French firm specialized in maritime safety, security, navigation, shipbuilding, and integrated logistics support.
Marcos discussed potential investments in the energy sector with executives of Acciona.
The Spanish multinational company is behind the construction of the Cebu-Cordova Link Expressway (CCLEX) linking mainland Cebu to Mactan Island, according to the RTVM.
Marcos on Tuesday night skipped a scheduled coffee meeting with members of the media after he caught a cold.
The "kapihan" was among his activities for Tuesday as he continues his visit to Belgium for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations-European Union Commemorative Summit.
Speaker Martin Romualdez faced the media instead.
The President also met King Philippe of Belgium at the Royal Palace in Brussels on Tuesday.
