Rail lines announce schedule changes due to Karding

Major rail lines on Sunday announced changes to their service schedules, due to the expected impact of Super Typhoon Karding (international name: Noru).

In an advisory, Light Rail Manila Corp. (LRMC) said it will shorten the operating hours of the Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT1) on Sunday.

The last train will depart the Baclaran station at an earlier schedule of 5 p.m., while the last train from the Balintawak station will be at 5:15 p.m.

“The safety of all is our foremost priority. The riding public is advised to plan ahead and be guided accordingly,” the advisory read.

Similarly, the Metro Rail Transit-3 (MRT-3) adjusted its Sunday train service due to Karding

"The last train from the North Avenue station is scheduled to depart at 6 p.m.; while the last train trip from the Taft Avenue station is at 6:38 p.m.," the MRT-3 said in a Facebook post.

Meanwhile, the Philippine National Railways (PNR) in a separate advisory said it suspended trips in Metro Manila, Laguna, and Lucena. It has yet to provide additional details on the resumption.

The state weather bureau has already placed at least two areas under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 5, indicating that winds of over 185 kilometers per hour are expected in at least 12 hours.

Several other areas in Luzon were also placed under other TCWS levels, with Karding expected to make landfall in the northern portions of Quezon or the southern portion of Aurora on Sunday night.

Classes in several areas on Monday, September 26, have already been canceled, along with several flights. — DVM, GMA News
