CAVITEX toll rate hike moved to May 22
The scheduled increase in toll rates at the Manila-Cavite Toll Expressway (CAVITEX) was moved to a later date, the toll road’s operator announced Wednesday.
In a statement, CAVITEX operator Cavitex?Infrastructure Corp. (CIC) and its joint venture partner Philippine Reclamation Authority (PRA), in cooperation with the Toll Regulatory Board (TRB), said the new toll rate for CAVITEX R-1 segment will be implemented starting May 22, 2022.
The new toll rates for CAVITEX R-1 was originally scheduled to start on May 12, 2022.
Motorists shall pay P33.00 for Class 1 vehicles from the current P25.00; P67.00 for Class 2 from P50.00; and P100.00 for Class 3 from P75.00.
“The supposed implementation in Parañaque Toll Plaza last May 12 was deferred to provide more time for the registration of PUV (public utility vehicle) drivers and operators to the?toll reprieve program which allows them to continue to enjoy the old toll rates of?P?25 for Class 1,?P?50 for Class 2 through a rebate program,” CIC said.
“The toll reprieve program is system driven via the RFID, so all the PUVs operators and drivers?have to?do is enroll their account to the program in coordination with?their different transport organizations,” the company said.
The toll reprieve program will run for 90 days starting on?day 1 of the implementation of the new toll rates, according to CIC.
The company said the TRB expressed gratitude to CIC and its joint venture partner PRA “for their cooperation and support to the mass transport?groups.”
“Target enrollees to the program are all drivers and operators of the 1,420 public utility vehicles that ply through CAVITEX,” CIC said.
The new rates are inclusive of the 2011 and?2014 periodic toll petitions, and add-on toll petition for enhancement works done in the expressway, which includes bridge lane widening works, the company said.—AOL, GMA News
