Some bus companies return to terminal ops outside LTFRB window hours
Some provincial bus companies have been using their terminals inside Metro Manila even outside the 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. window hours.
According to Joseph Morong's report on "24 Oras", the bus companies are invoking the injunction issued by the Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 233.
The court said the Inter-Agency Task Force resolution which formed the basis of the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board's prohibition on the use private bus terminals was no longer in effect.
"Hopefully by today or tomorrow, mag-open na 'yung provincial buses ng additional schedule, utilizing siguro mga 40 - 50% na ng kanilang exisiting fleet," said Alex Yague, executive director of the Nagkakaisang Samahan ng mga Nangangasiwa ng Panlalawigang Bus sa Pilipinas.
The LTFRB insisted that the ban on the use of private bus terminals outside of the window hours stayed. It said the country was still in a pandemic and that no terminal had passed its inspection.
"Hindi po talaga sila pumasa doon po sa health, safety, and security. They're even considered security risk, 'yung mga terminals nila po," said Kristina Cassion, LTFRB executive director. —Mel Matthew Doctor/NB, GMA News
