Fuel prices seen to go up anew next week

Motorists will be greeted with another round of increase in the pump prices of petroleum products in the coming week, according to projections by Unioil Petroleum Philippines.

In its fuel forecast for January 10 to 17 trading week, Unioil said the price per liter of diesel may increase by P1.00 to P1.10.

Gasoline prices, meanwhile, may go up by P0.70 to P0.80 per liter.

Oil companies usually announce price adjustments on fuel products every Monday, to be implemented on the following day.

Effective Tuesday, January 4, fuel firms implemented a P1.85 per liter increase for gasoline and P2.40 per liter hike for diesel.

This week’s price adjustments are the first for 2022.

In 2021, the total price adjustments stood at a net increase of P17.65 per liter for gasoline and P14.30 per liter for diesel. -- BAP, GMA News
