PrimeWater completes 9 pumping stations for Silang Water District

Villar-led PrimeWater Infrastructure Corp. and its joint venture partner Silang Water District (SWD) have completed nine new pumping stations including four steel bolted tanks to ensure water security in its concession area.

In a statement on Thursday, PrimeWater said it has also laid a total of 267 kilometers of pipelines throughout its Silang, Cavite concession area since its partnership with SWD consummated in 2019.

The company said its partnership with SWD aspires to ensure water security for the future of Silang while complementing the growing demands of the residential population and commercial developments.

It said the completion of nine pumping stations and four bolted tanks increased the previous service coverage of 75% equivalent to 39, 527 service connections to 80% or more than 45,000 service connections, allowing the concessionaires to experience improved water supply and pressure directly from their tap.

The increasing water demand of Barangay Sabutan due to rapid growth of population and economic activities was addressed upon the completion of new source development projects in the area, it said.

“As we energize our water sources to increase the supply and pressure, it is also important that we have a concrete plan for supply and network management. New pipelines were laid, and comprehensive leak detection activities are being done,” said Abigail Mojicam, branch manager of PrimeWater Silang.

The consistent pipe laying and detection activities enabled the company to fix a total of 22,093 transmission line leaks and address the demands on remote and elevated areas such as Sitio Banaba in Brgy. San Miguel 2 and Brgy. Bucal which requires an extra amount of water pressure to reach, PrimeWater said.

Amidst the pandemic, PrimeWater and SWD have continuously undertaken water distribution and supply improvement to support the economic demand of the municipality.

Among these are the ongoing four pumping stations that are expected to be completed before the year ends, the company said.

These will ensure 24/7 supply of potable water and will open additional 14,000 service connections, it said.

Moreover, a pipe laying of a 2.6-kilometer transmission line from Sabutan to Kaong is also likely to be done next month which will lead to expansion of water supply and augmentation of 5,000 service connections in the area, according to PrimeWater.

“These projects are few among achieving our vision and commitment to provide quality water and service to our fellow Silangueños.” Mojica said.—LDF, GMA News
