DPWH's flood control project in Manila's Sobriedad 30% completed –Maynilad
The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) flood control project in Sampaloc, Manila was 30% completed as Maynilad continued to dewater its 7-foot-diameter pipeline along Sobriedad, the water services provider reported Saturday.
In a statement, Maynilad said the dewatering was conducted by the installation of “line stoppers” plugging both the upstream and downstream portions of the network that feeds water to the pipeline.
The pipe cutting commenced once all water was drained from the pipeline.
"As of 8:00 a.m. today, October 30, 2021, Maynilad completed the cutting of this pipeline, and the last segment is already being lifted and removed. This is now 30% toward full project completion," Maynilad reported.
Maynilad is currently lowering the cross-under pipe into the trench to replace the pipe segment that was removed.
From October 25 to 28, Maynilad moved its water service interruptions to October 29 to November 1 following a “deluge of requests from customers to defer the activity so that they have more time to prepare.”
Maynilad mobile water tankers have been deployed, and several local government units assisted the affected communities through tanker deliveries. — DVM, GMA News
