Chowking to offer Taiwan's Milksha bubble tea
Chowking stores across the country will soon offer Milksha products, as its operator inked a license agreement with the popular Taiwanese bubble tea brand.
In a regulatory filing, Jollibee Foods Corp. (JFC) said it, along with its subsidiaries Fresh N' Famous Foods Inc. (FNF) and Mang Inasal Philippines Inc. (MI), entered into a license agreement with Milshop International Co. Ltd.
The agreement gives JFC, FNF, and MI the exclusive rights to sell and market products under the Milksha brand—recognized as the "best" bubble tea in Taiwan —in their stores.
"The current plan is for Milksha products to be sold in Chowking stores, but JFC has the option to expand Milksha's presence to its other Philippine restaurant brands," the filing read.
Milksha opened in Tainan in 2004, and has since grown to over 260 outlets. Majority or 235 are in Taiwan, and 34 are overseas—Singapore, Australia, China, Canada, and Japan.
"We are thrilled to bring Milksha to Filipino consumers through the stores of our brands in the Philippines," said JFC founder and chairman Tony Tan Caktiong.
"Our customers can now enjoy from our restaurants both our high-quality food and one of the best bubble teas which is made from very high quality and healthy dairy ingredients," he added.
JFC ended May 2021 with a total of 3,209 restaurants across the Philippines— 1,185 Jollibee stores; 568 Chowking; 272 Greenwich; 297 Red Ribbon; 585 Mang Inasal; 97 Burger King; three PHO24; and two Panda Express.
Overseas, JFC operated 2,606 stores in countries such as China, Vietnam, Brunei, Hong Kong, Singapore, Macau, Malaysia, United States, Canada, Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Italy, United Kingdom, and Guam.—AOL, GMA News
