Pacific Drive entry to CAVITEx to open on Sept. 14

The Cavite Infrastructure Corp. (CIC), a tollway operator under Metro Pacific Tollways Corp.,  said Friday it is opening an alternative entry into the Manila-Cavite Expressway (CAVITEx) in the coming week.

In a statement, CIC said that the Pacific Drive entry into the CAVITEx will be opened to motorists starting September 14, 2020.

The new entry to the toll road is expected to serve up to 90,000 vehicles daily.

The opening of Pacific Drive entry complements the Roxas Boulevard entry and is part of the enhancement projects on the 14-kilometer expressway, according to CIC.

“Motorists will be able to enter the CAVITEx through D. Macapagal Boulevard, easing traffic from Roxas Boulevard and roads around Entertainment City and other areas such as Manila, Pasay, Paranaque, especially now that vehicular volume along the CAVITEx is increasing with the relaxing of the quarantine status in Metro Manila and CALABARZON,” Roberto Bontia, CIC president and general manager, said.

With the opening of Pacific Drive entry, Bontia reminded motorists to avail of the Easytrip RFID before the CAVITEx and other tollroads across Luzon convert all cash lanes into Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) lanes starting November 2, 2020.

The shift to full RFID is in compliance with the Department of Transportation Order No. 2020-012 that requires all tollroad concessionaires to do away with cash transactions to arrest the spread of COVID-19 and ensure smooth flow of traffic along expressways.

The Easytrip RFID can be purchased and reloaded directly at 24/7 Customer Service Centers along the CAVITEx, according to CIC.

Reloading may also be done online via PayMaya, BDO, ECPay and other partner-merchants of Easytrip.

The initial and succeeding loads are non-expiring and consumable, the company said.

Meanwhile, Metro Pacific toll roads also accept the Autosweep RFID used along the South Luzon Expressway (SLEx), the NAIA Expressway (NAIAx) and the Muntinlupa-Cavite Expressway (MCx) upon enrollment and activation.

“Motorists need only to bring their vehicles with the Autosweep RFID to any Easytrip installation and reloading site, top up an initial load of P200, then will be able to use their Autosweep RFID at Metro Pacific toll roads 24-hours upon activation,” CIC said.

Aside from the CAVITEx, the Easytrip RFID can also be used along the CAVITEx C5 Link Expressway and other expressways operated by the Metro Pacific Tollways Group; namely, the Cavite-Laguna Expressway (CALAx), the North Luzon Expressway (NLEx) and the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEx).—AOL, GMA News
