2GO to give free one-way tickets to stranded Cebu City residents

Locally stranded individuals (LSIs) who are residents of Cebu City will be given free one-way tickets back home, travel service provider 2GO Group Inc. announced Wednesday.

In an advisory, 2GO said LSIs who are residents of Cebu City will be given a free one-way ticket with a travel period that started on Wednesday, August 19 until August 31, 2020.

The ticket is inclusive of a 50-kilogram baggage allowance, meals, linen, terminal fee, service fee, and travel insurance.

To avail of the service, LSIs or their representatives will have to proceed to any 2GO company-owned store for enlistment. Registration at the port or terminal will not be accommodated.

For booking, the company requires LSIs to present a valid medical clearance certificate issued by the city or municipal health office; a valid PNP COVID Shield Travel Authority, a valid government-issued ID indicating a Cebu City residence; and a valid Acceptance Certificate from the barangay.

LSIs will have to enlist with customer service agents in stores, with the cut off time eight hours before the estimated time of departure of the trip. No-shows are forfeited.

For the trip itself, LSIs are requested to be at the post at least four hours before departure, and bring the following documents:

  • 2GO Travel Ticket
  • Valid Medical Clearance Certificate issued by the City or Municipal Health Office
  • Valid PNP COVID Shield Travel Authority
  • Valid Government-issued ID indicating a Cebu City residence
  • Valid Acceptance Certificate from the Barangay

Passengers are also required to wear face masks and face shields from onboarding the vessel until reaching the port of destination.

2GO and its subsidiaries ended 2019 with a total fleet of 27 operating vessels, of which 23 are company-owned ships. The fleet consists of six fast crafts, and five RORO/pax vessels. —LDF, GMA News
