PNB employee tests positive for COVID-19

One of the employees of Philippine National Bank (PNB) in Pasay City has tested positive for coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the Lucio Tan-led lender confirmed Tuesday.

“The Philippine National Bank confirms that one of our employees at the PNB Financial Center in Macapagal Boulevard in Pasay City had a confirmation yesterday, March 23, 2020, as positive for COVID-19,” the bank said in an advisory.

PNB said the employee has been under voluntary quarantine since March 11, 2020 and currently does not show any symptoms.

“The Bank is providing support to the employee and the family,” it said.

“PNB takes this matter seriously.”

The lender said it has been working with the Department of Health (DOH) and the Pasay City authorities to contain the spread of the virus.

“We have done a top-to-bottom disinfection of the PNB head office and we are constantly disinfecting our branches and offices nationwide,” it said.

“Identified primary contacts were asked to go into self-quarantine. They are being closely monitored, provided guidance and assistance. There have been no further reports of any COVID-19 infections from this exposure,” it added.

PNB said its Business Continuity Plan (BCP) is ready for such events.

“Our preparations for this pandemic take into consideration the needs of our employees, customers, and various stakeholders,” it said.

“We encourage everyone to always maintain social distancing and to practice proper hygiene both in their homes and places of work. We are closely monitoring the developments of the evolving pandemic. We will continue to cooperate with the authorities as we fight this ongoing battle.” --Ted Cordero/KBK, GMA News
