BPI extends payment for credit card, loans for 30 days
The Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) on Tuesday announced it will extend the payment for its consumer loan services amid the enhanced community quarantine in Luzon due to the COVID-19 threat.
“We are extending a 30-day grace period for qualified credit card, personal, home, auto, and SME loan clients to help ease the burden during these trying times,” BPI said in an advisory.
The bank’s announcement came after the entire Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night.
Under this condition, strict home quarantine will be implemented in all households, transportation will be suspended, provision for food and essential health services will be regulated and the presence of uniformed personnel to enforce quarantine procedures will be heightened. — Ted Cordero/RSJ, GMA News
