Grab suspends services in Luzon amid enhanced quarantine
Ride-hailing service Grab Philippines has suspended its services in Luzon, following the enhanced community quarantine placed over the mainland region amid the spread of the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
In an advisory, Grab Philippines country head Brian Cu said the company's services -- GrabCar, GrabTrike, GrabFood, GrabExpress, among others -- have been temporarily suspended starting 12:00 midnight on March 17.
This comes as the entire Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine at 12 a.m. on Tuesday, March 17, as ordered by President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday night.
The enhanced quarantine effectively banned all modes of public transportation across the entire Luzon.
"In the interest of public health safety, hinihikayat po namin ang lahat na manatili sa kanilang tahanan, at palagiing mag-observe ng personal hygiene," said Cu.
"Babalitaan po namin kayo as soon as may mga mahalagang information na available," he added. --MDM, GMA News
