Globe, Huawei bring first 5G phone to Philippines


Globe Telecom Inc. and Chinese smartphone giant Huawei introduced the first 5G-enabled smartphone in the Philippines.

In a launching event late Thursday, executives of Globe and Huawei, led by Globe president and CEO Ernest Cu and Huawei Philippines Carrier Network Business Group (CNBG) president Simon Sunluyuan, unveiled the Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G

The latest flagship Huawei device was officially introduced to select 40 Globe Platinum customers.

“Today is another milestone in our collaboration with Huawei that is consistently growing stronger," Cu said.

“A few months back, we brought together 5G technology to Filipino homes, and now, we bring the most powerful and first ever 5G capable smartphone in the country to our mobile customers,” Cu added.

The new HUaweu Mate 30 Pro 5G is available for free via Globe ThePLATINUM 4999 Plan for existing and recontracting customers starting Feb. 8, 2020.

The Huawei Mate 30 Pro 4G and 5G versions are available in select Globe stores with the following recontracting offers: Mate 30 PLAN 1999 Free, Mate 30 Pro PLAN 2499 Free, and Mate 30 Pro 5G: PLAN 2499 with P16,800 cashout. —Ted Cordero/LBG, GMA News
